We have been enjoying being the recent home for the live action television commercial voice overs for Ancestry.com. Ac tor John Rubinow has been in our recording studio and production facility several times now recording VO for Ancestry.ca localizations, and most recently a commercial for AncestryDNA, which can be seen on the air currently! Techland may have moved on to a new project and a new publisher, but that’s not going to stop DEAD ISLAND from becoming a franchise! Deep Silver is keeping it going, this time by moving it to a different gaming genre, as a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA)!
The game will be free to play and on PC only this time. We recorded quite a bit of VO for it not too long ago, and the videos of it we got to see look like a total blast! From Deep Silver’s website:
Dead Island: Epidemic is a Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena (ZOMBA!), a team-based action game centered on the struggle for control points and scarce supplies between opposing player factions on a map crawling with zombies. A game that makes it easy to jump straight into the action: there are no preset towers, bases or minions – to defeat the opposing teams, players must rely on their skills, their teammates, and the lethality of their own crafted weapons.

We are delighted to welcome back the Colorado-based Fear Not Agency and Qdoba Mexican Grill! We have developed a very nice relationship with them over the year in the production of their radio advertising, and in the process have been able to produce a large number of great radio ads! here you can listen to the most recent!
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is selling well and continuing to be very well received by fans and critics alike! The game was written and voice directed by our very own Haris Orkin. Techland and Ubisoft have put together a really nice development diary about the making of the game, and here is one featuring Haris talking about the process of writing the game.
We are super excited to see that one of our upcoming video game projects is getting a huge push from Warner Bros Interactive for E3!
The first look at gameplay is going to be seen during the convention this week, but over the weekend the first announcement trailer has been released!
Also, they are pushing the game in a huge way before the doors to the main halls even open, with a giant outdoor poster on the wall of the convention center and banners in the hallways.
We’re glad to see Warner is as excited about this project as we are!
The newest video game project we are working on at Double RR Studios had an official announcement today! Dying Light is being developed by Techland and will be published by Warner bros. Interactive and will see release in 2014. Last week most video game news sources were treated to the first demo build, for which the dialogue was recorded in our recording studios. you can read a lot more about it at places like IGN and Kotaku, among others.

A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming Alex Trebek back into our studios to record voice over for a brand new campaign for Comforpedic by Beautyrest. The innovative new campaign discusses the connection between sleep and our ability to think, and features great thinkers of our time and their sleeping habits. You can read more about the campaign HERE.
The campaign will feature leading experts in a variety of fields endorsing Comforpedic as the mattress that provides them the best, most restful sleep they need to excel in their demanding professions. Through the ads, the viewer is pulled into the spectacular dream environments of celebrated experts Philippe Cousteau, famed oceanographer, filmmaker, Animal Planet correspondent and grandson of Jacques Cousteau; Maria Chudnovsky , renowned graph theorist and mathematician and a 2012 MacArthur Foundation Fellow; and Dr. Mae Jemison , the first African-American female astronaut and an accomplished physician.
Providing voiceover for the spots is Alex Trebek, renowned Jeopardy host and the ultimate expert on experts, whose narration of Cousteau, Chudnovsky and Jemison’s “dreams” drives home the benefits of better sleep with Comforpedic.

Double RR Studios & Production are very pleased to have had the legendary sport broadcaster Keith Jackson in our recording studio to lay down his part of The 29th NASCAR Spring All-Star Cup is this weekend, and it proves to be a huge event!

Headlined by the popular NASCAR on FOX trio of Darrell Waltrip, Larry McReynolds and Mike Joy, SPEED’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on-air team also includes Michael Waltrip and Chris Myers from the famed Hollywood Hotel, Jeff Hammond, Krista Voda, Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum. In addition, Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Keith Jackson narrates a pre-race All-Star retrospective. Jackson called NASCAR’s first three All-Star events, including Dale Earnhardt’s famous “Pass in the Grass” win in The Winston in 1987.

The website Westerns Reboot explores the Western genre past in present in a variety of ways and have just published a super in-depth interview, entitled Call of Juarez: Gunslinger – A New Trail Toward the Western, with our own Haris Orkin, writer and voice director of the video game Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, which was recorded in our recording studios here at Double R Studios and Production.
The interview takes a detailed look at the game itself and the role that the Western genre can play in video games.
